Our relevant and practical approach to outplacement support results in people being very successful in securing their next role and we walk with them every step of the way to help them position themselves strongly for possible opportunities, harnessing the Career Blueprint™ to ensure success.
Outplacement support programme
Our outplacement support programme is designed to help people position strongly for their next role as it offers tips and techniques that will stand them in good stead for any role they apply for. A critical difference in the outplacement support programme we offer is that we actively recruit across all role functions and industry sectors to Board level so we know exactly what we are looking for when we review a CV or cover letter or help someone prepare for an interview. We are at the coalface on a daily basis so we are closely attuned to the current job market and its requirements for success. We are very proud of our track record of over 20+ years of effectively helping people successfully apply for roles following redundancy as everyone’s career genuinely matters to us.
We recognise that having a role disestablished can be a deeply disempowering experience and research has identified that the longterm impact can be considerable and significantly underestimated. We realise that looking for the next role following redundancy requires a level of confidence, resilience and determination which can be low at a time like this so we consciously begin our outplacement support programme with the option of completing of a Career Blueprint as that is a highly affirmative and confidence boosting exercise which enables people to look forward with positivity and a degree of excitement about what the future might hold as it enables them to confidently position themselves in the job market.
Our programme is not prescriptive as we believe people have very different needs when it comes to positioning for a new role. We therefore offer a number of different modules where individuals can choose the most appropriate modules best suited to them. Once a budget has been agreed, we work with people to see where they would most like to focus their attention.
A key differentiator with our outplacement support programme is that we only charge for the modules taken, regardless of the budget agreed at the outset.
Crafting a compelling CV and Linkedin profile
While the Career Blueprint helps people to understand their individual story, their CV should enable them to tell that story effectively to any potential employer. There is a very short window in which to capture target audience attention so the CV needs to tell the story succinctly, supported by evidence based information and objective facts.
As we actively recruit, we have our fingers firmly on the pulse when it comes to what potential employers are looking for in a CV and we work with individuals to capture that in a compelling manner.
Additionally, the importance of crafting an effective Linkedin profile should not be underestimated and this is a marketing exercise which requires skill and time. Our experienced team will apply their expertise to ensure that peoples’ skills and experience are highlighted in a clear and professional way.
Creating an effective cover letter
There is ongoing debate about the value of cover letters but as experienced recruiters we really value a well written and considered cover letter which clearly outlines alignment to the role being applied for and it ideally secures someone an interview.
There is no such thing as a generic cover letter and an effective cover letter can take a good few hours to put together. We work with people to craft a cover letter for a specific role so that the alignment between the skills and experience people have to offer and what the role requires is strong and clear. The time, effort and energy put into a cover letter will undoubtedly pay dividends in terms of increasing the probability of being invited in for an interview.
Preparing for an interview
While there are some generic tips and techniques we can share which enable people to position strongly for any interview, we work with individuals on a specific role to drill down into detailed questions we think will be asked and help them to prepare effective responses which clearly illustrate how their skills and experience align well to the role.
As experienced recruiters we know what questions we would ask in an interview so we look carefully at the job description and competencies for the role to pull together a broad range of relevant questions. We then practise responses to these questions with individuals so that at the end of the session people will feel confident and very well prepared for the interview ahead.
And afterwards…
We don’t believe our job finishes once we have completed the modules available in our outplacement support programme. We are always at the end of the phone as an objective but supportive sounding board and a listening ear to give professional advice when needed.
Everyone’s career genuinely matters to us.
“The Career Blueprint has been an amazing revelation for me. When I first went through the process with Julia, I had just been made redundant from a role that I had been in for a while. Whilst I loved the role and the people I worked with, the organisation didn’t really align with my values and aspirations. Following my redundancy, I wasn’t really clear about what I wanted to do next apart from find a new job, but after a couple of sessions with Julia it became very clear about what my next role should look like and what kind of company I should work for. Following my sessions, I was fortunate to find a role that ticked all the boxes. I thoroughly enjoyed that role for a couple of years but sadly like many companies these days, the ownership changed and my function was moved offshore. Once again, I found myself looking for a new role. I referred straight back to my blueprint and it really kept me focussed on what was important to me and what industries I should focus my job search on. I was still tempted to apply for anything and everything but before I applied for any role, I looked back at my blueprint to see if the role and company aligned with my blueprint. If it didn’t, I did not apply.
The Blueprint is truly amazing. It really helps you to focus on what is important for you and what isn’t.
I have recommended the Blueprint to a number of people and one of my teenage children is now going through the process. I have seen him really start to understand where he wants to be in the future and how to get there. Thank you Julia for sharing this amazing tool.”
